The Rev. David W. Peters


Fr. David served as an enlisted Marine and Army chaplain, deploying to Baghdad, Iraq in 2005-2006. His experiences in Iraq and homecoming is told here briefly by NPR’s John Burnett. Even though he retired from the army, his threefold mission never ends: Nurture the Living, Care for the Wounded, and Honor the Dead. Prior to planting St. Joan of Arc in 2019, he was the Associate Rector at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in South Austin and Curate at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, TX. David is a member of the Union of Black Episcopalians, the Pflugerville Rotary, and has degrees from Seminary of the Southwest (M.A.R.) and Erskine Theological Seminary (D.Min). In 2023 he became a peregrino/pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago. He is the father of 2 adult children, 1 elementary school child, and 1 cat. Listen to his sermons and talks on his Dear Padre Podcast.
